Project: Tire Burning System
Client: Lafarge North America

Artisan Contracting was the design/build general contractor on this project. The project objective was to take tires from van trailers at ground level and transport them approximately 80 feet up and across conveyors that would control the feed rate into the kiln at the preheat tower. This project required extensive pre-construction testing and design. The feed conveyor had to be threaded through an opening in the preheat tower with a clearance of less than 1 inch. The tires had to be weighed and batched through a feed chute in regulated numbers. The project included all mechanical and electrical installation, with integration into the existing plant systems.
