Artisan Contracting was selected to install 60-inch diameter by 40-foot long casing piles for a new substation for Ameren. This work required very large cranes, hammers and precise installation. The caissons had the base plate already mounted on top of the pile with anchor-bolt holes pre-drilled. The piles had to be within 1-inch horizontal location and a bolt rotation within 1-1/2 degrees.
